Lots of Speculation Before Valentine's Day

Rumour: Sony To Host PlayStation State of Play In February, Along With PS Plus Leaks

A reliable insider confirmed that a new PlayStation State of Play showcase is going to happen in February 2026, with a PS Plus leak just announced.

Xbox already kicked off the gaming year strong in January with Xbox Developer Direct, showing a deeper look into their highly-anticipated titles: Fable, Beasts of Reincarnation, and Forza Horizon 6—along with the cute game Kiln. Now, it is PlayStation’s turn to keep things rolling into February. According to a trusted source, Sony will be hosting a PlayStation State of Play in February 2026. Additionally, the PlayStation Plus Essential monthly tier in February has supposedly leaked ahead of an official announcement.

The last State of Play event was back in November 2025, but that was exclusively for games produced in Asian countries, with the last major showcase going back to September 2025. Reliable source, NateTheHate, confirmed a new PlayStation State of Play event for February 2026 on X. While he has no confirmed official date, there is some speculation as to which games PlayStation will be delving deeper into.

Even though this is all pure speculation, players could hope to see more from games already gaining more traction—either through more marketing pushes or teases. These include first-party games, such as Marvel’s Wolverine, Marathon, Saros, and more. If PlayStation really wanted to outshine Xbox, players may see a small teaser poster for the third installment in the new God of War series. However, they could be saving that announcement once the Amazon Prime Video series picks up more steam, which could be coming out in late 2027. Another likely possibility would be something related to Marvel’s Spider-Man universe.

Insomniac'S Wolverine Game Is Coming Next Year, Insider Says

There is a possibility of seeing a deeper look at Control Resonant, since the Remedy Entertainment sequel has recently been rumoured to be launching in May or June 2026. Buzz around Naughty Dog’s upcoming title, Intergalactic, still has yet to show us more. Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 still does not have a name or release date announced. Depending on what time of February this PlayStation State of Play lands, it could talk about a playable demo for Resident Evil Requiem that would be available right after the presentation.

Dealabs insider billbil-kun continues to keep a solid track record of leaks, always revealing upcoming hardware and software announcements a bit earlier than the official statements. The main game offering for the Essential tier will allegedly be Undisputed, the licensed boxing game which was released on consoles in October 2024. The game was best known for featuring the best boxers across generations, including Muhammad Ali, Tyson Fury, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roy Jones Jr, Manny Pacquiao, Frank Bruno, Amir Khan, Rocky Marciano, Joe Calzaghe, Deontay Wilder, Nigel Benn, Ricky Hatton, Claressa Shields, Katie Taylor and Chantelle Cameron.

While billbil-kun has not found anything about the other games, they suggest that Undisputed will be the ‘flagship’ title, and that the other titles will be smaller games. For now, players can still claim January’s PlayStation Plus Essential games until the morning of February 3. These include Need for Speed Unbound, Disney’s Epic Mickey: Rebrushed and Core Keeper.
