Following the success (and dormancy) of the EA Sports Fight Night series of boxing games, a new contender has been on the horizon since early 2023, and now Undisputed is coming to consoles.
Since early in 2023, Undisputed, the next boxing game and spiritual successor to the critically acclaimed Fight Night boxing series published by EA Sports, has been on the radar of fight fans everywhere, especially due to the early access period that had fans hooked in December 2022. Earlier this month, the Steel City Interactive team working on Undisputed unleashed an update that adds a brand new Career Mode and Character Creator to the fighter. The newest trailer for the knockout title can be seen below, featuring these new options.
Today, a surprise has come out of the team at Steel City Interactive, as an exclusive interview has come out of Insider Gaming that suggests Undisputed will be coming to consoles. Steel City Interactive CEO and Co-Founder Ash Habib used the interview to speak about all things Undisputed and why no major extra features are coming to the early access version of the game after the character creator.
Habib said, “We’re fully focused on our console development,” including, “We’re going through that process right now in terms of getting us to that version one launch on consoles… Launching the game on Steam or PC platforms is a completely different ballgame when it comes to consoles, so we’re just navigating that path at the moment” regarding the state of Undisputed.
What’s interesting is Habib stops shy of announcing a release date or window, saying, “What I don’t want to do is put a date on here and then something happens, or there’s an issue that we’ve really got to look at, and it sets us back” but he assures fans with a hopeful notion, stating “The fact that we’ve said we’re now focusing on polish, bugs, and gameplay balancing. That in itself should give a reasonable idea that we’re not a million miles away.”
Undisputed is still in early access on PC, but this new development shows fans can be cautiously optimistic about the prospect of the title coming to consoles.
