The 2025 SAG Awards took place on Sunday, February 23, honouring the year’s best TV and film performances.
Last night, one of the biggest awards shows to honour the year’s best actors and actresses for TV and film performances. The 2025 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards aired on Sunday, February 23rd, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The list of nominees for the 31st glamourous iteration of the SAG Awards had 15 categories to cover Hollywood’s big names and critically acclaimed displays on-screen. This year’s Lifetime Achievement, SAG-AFTRA’s highest honour, was presented to renowned actress Jane Fonda.
Kieran Culkin opened the 2025 SAG Awards with the first win for his complex role of playing Benji Kaplan in A Real Pain. Across the board, the year’s well-received movies had the likes of Wicked, Emilia Pérez, A Complete Unknown, and Anora pitted against each other for the top acting categories. Each one of these four films also contended against the Ralph Fiennes-led Conclave for the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture award. On the TV side, Shogun, The Bear, The Diplomat and Baby Reindeer were the most nominated series, battling for the best performances on the TV screen.
Of course, the greatest award of the night went to Fonda with the Lifetime Achievement Award. She won two Oscars, eight Golden Globes and an Emmy after 65 years in the entertainment industry. This also included her amazing work off-screen of being a lifelong activist. Her perseverance and determination to change the world and shape a better future for everyone has been something she cherishes more than her acting career.
