SEGA’s new Classics Collection will be released tomorrow, giving fans a nostalgia kick with over 50 games from their childhood. These include Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2, as well as beat ’em up and shooter games like Comix Zone, Gunstar Heroes and Vectorman.
Some of the games, like Streets of Rage 3, have multiple versions available. Players can experience the Japanese version, Bare Knuckle 3, which features a modified version of the game. Altered colour schemes, different storylines and playable characters are other exciting features.
Rewards in the form of trophies are also included, commemorating players’ efforts to fully experience the SEGA Genesis history.
As for tips, they are available for some games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage and Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master. For example, in Streets of Rage, when players are thrown into the air by an enemy, they can hold Up and the Jump button to land on their feet and not take damage. When players get grabbed from behind, they can press the Jump button, then press forward and Attack to throw their foe.
In Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, players can get infinite shurikens by setting the number of shurikens to zero in the options menu, setting the sound effect to Shuriken and then highlighting the shurikens option.
Since the SEGA Genesis released a 16-bit console in Japan back in 1988, it has sold a total of 30.75 million units. Arcade ports and original games found their homes in 90’s pop culture, thanks to the console. Tomorrow will be a blast from the past, and players waiting to get their hands on the collection… “gotta go fast!”
