Sony continues to face backlash from fans, and the latest is games suddenly disappearing from the UK Steam storefront.
Sony continues to get fan backlash following decisions that consumers believe don’t align with their interests. This includes the latest news which saw Hideo Kojima’s next development, Physint, get dropped at PlayStation and almost immediately picked up by XBOX, and the company’s decisions on physical media despite fan outrage. This fan outrage extended to forums like Reddit once again, when fans learned two first-party published Sony titles were discovered as missing from the UK Steam storefront.
Now it’s being reported (by VGC) that the two first-party published Sony titles have gone missing from the UK Steam storefront due to “an issue” after Sony released an official statement in response to fan backlash. The two games are Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West (it’s worth mentioning Helldivers 2 has a big patch update scheduled to launch on September 22, 2026). A Sony spokesperson has given an update, and they said, “We are aware of an issue affecting the availability of select titles on Steam in the UK,” adding, “We are working with Valve to address the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Players who already have these two titles in their libraries have reported they still work as intended, so fans have been able to play the titles without issues. But, that also means anyone in the UK cannot currently buy either title or any unowned DLC currently. The two games still have their store listings, but the purchase screens have been replaced with a message which reads “An error was encountered while processing your request: This item is currently unavailable in your region”. So, while the timetable for Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West‘s return to the store is uncertain, both parties are aware of the issue and are working to get it resolved.
