Sony lends a helping hand to developers affected by PSN downtime

The PSN outage is a serious concern for indie developers pushing digital wares.

Gamers aren’t the only ones affected by the PSN outage. Independent developers like Open Emotion – whose game Mad Blocker Alpha was scheduled to debut last week – aren’t pulling in any revenue while the PlayStation Store is down, so Sony will give those studios an extra marketing push to make up for lost time on the store.

“Sony will be helping us retain key focus [prominent placement on the PSN Store] for an extra few weeks as they understand how something like this can affect a small dev studio like ours,” said Paddy Murphy, CEO of Open Emotion.

It’s nice to know that Sony is thinking about the little guys, but if the PSN stays down for too much longer they’ll have a whole lot of people to make up to.
