Late Tuesday, Tom Holland, the lead actor in the Spider-Man films, confirmed in a late-night show interview that Spider-Man 4 will begin filming in 2025.
The Spider-Man trilogy, featuring Tom Holland in the lead role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, has performed exceptionally well at the box office, with all three films surpassing their large budgets globally, according to BoxOfficeMojo. So when Tom Holland announced on The Tonight Show, starring Jimmy Fallon, that his version of the web-slinging vigilante would return for a fourth film, Spider-Man 4, it surprised many fans that production would begin as early as 2025. Holland told Fallon, “Next summer, we start shooting,” adding, “Everything’s good to go. We’re nearly there. It’s super exciting; I can’t wait.”
Tom Holland previously told Collider that he wouldn’t want to do another Spider-Man film unless it did right by the character, appreciating his newfound influence within the production rather than being the new guy on set. “I feel very protective over Spider-Man,” Holland said. “I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy. So, I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character,” he stated in November 2023.
