Star Citizen is no longer offering refunds to backers after 14 days, and one supporter took CIG/RSI to court, according to a Reddit thread.
About a month ago, firefly212 made a post a Reddit showing an order to go to a small claims court. Later, the court date of July 13 was given.
Firefly212 wrote that they lost the case, and thanked those Reddit posters who had given him advice and offered him words of encouragement.
“Though I lost today, I don’t want to come off as salty… I asked the court to answer some questions, and I got some answers,” firefly212 wrote.
The Redditor continued to write how CIG/RSI was successful in arguing that “the arbitration clause should be applied to transactions even before the clause existed.”
One Reddit poster questioned firefly212 about the reasons for backing up Star Citizen in the first place.
“I mean, $4,496 dollars isn’t really pocket change, but ya, there’s a fair chance I’ll end up spending more on lawyering up to get my refund,” firefly212 replied. However, they hope the backers that are left would get the game they have been hoping for over the years.
