Critically acclaimed platforming adventure SteamWorld Dig is coming to Nintendo Switch this February.
This news came in a tweet by SteamWorld developer, Image and Form Games, in which they called the game, “our claim to fame, our wonderful pride and joy.” The list price is around $12.99 CDN and the game will hit the eShop on February 1st.
The timing of this announcement comes a mere few months after Steamworld Dig 2 came to Nintendo Switch. Image and Form Games boss, Brjann Sigurgeirsson said in an interview on the eShop Action Committee podcast, that Steamworld Dig has a special place in the company’s heart.
“Steamworld Dig for us is a very special game. It’s good to see how it has aged and also really good to have it as a comparison on the Switch so that people can compare the original Steamworld Dig to Steamworld Dig 2 and see how we’ve evolved as a studio. Hopefully it has aged with dignity.”
In Steamworld Dig you control Rusty. a steam powered robot who inherits a mine and decides to dig through it. The catch is that as you mine you are creating your own distinct path that is unique to you.
The game is the second installment in the SteamWorld series and originally came out back in August of 2013 on Nintendo 3Ds and has since made its way to PC, OSX, Wii U, PlayStation 4, Playstation Vita and XBox One.
