Stellaris‘ latest expansion, Shadows of the Shroud, is coming in hot at the end of the month, providing a peek behind the veil and a revamped End of Cycle.
Paradox Interactive has announced today that Stellaris: Shadows of the Shroud —the next expansion for the sci-fi strategy game— is coming much sooner than anticipated, and it will bring players “a comprehensive remaster of the Psionic Ascension Path.” Notably, players who have already secured the Stellaris Season 09 Expansion Pass will receive immediate access to Shadows of the Shroud as part of their purchase and will be able to dive right in when the expansion launches on September 22. The launch trailer can be seen below, courtesy of Paradox Interactive.
It’s worth addressing that while Shadows of the Shroud does include a revamped End of Cycle (one of the main Eldritch antagonists from Stellaris‘ mysterious Shroud), it’s not exclusive to the new expansion and those who own the Utopia DLC can jump right in. However, Shadows of the Shroud will also grant access to this feature and will feature exclusive new content that expands the revamp.
Stellaris Shadows of the Shroud Key Features

- Paradox Interactive describes Shadow of the Shroud as “Breaching the Shroud unfolds as a three-stage situation, where your decisions will determine your empire’s spiritual destiny and determine your attunement to specific Patrons in the Shroud. After you breach into the Shroud, you will have access to a new Shroud Panel, where you can visually analyze your attunement to the Shroud. The more you attune to specific Patrons, the more benefits and bonuses you will unlock,” providing new boons and powers for players.
- End of the Cycle Revamped – A new version of the End of the Cycle is here. Powers, knowledge, and wealth beyond measure are available for fans, but the cost is immense. Everything must end, and the destruction of the fans’ entire empire, all planets and megastructures crafted through 50 years of a pact with the Shroud will cease to exist. This revamp allows fans to delay the inevitable and acquire even more benefits from their pact.
- Psionic Auras – Your Empire’s Shroud Attunement will manifest across Stellaris space, influencing systems, friends, and even players’ enemies.
- Shadows of the Shroud will also feature New Origins, Civics, Government types, events, portraits, ships and much more.
Stellaris Shadow of the Shroud is developed in collaboration with developers at Abrakam, and it’s launching on September 22. Fans looking for more information can visit the official Stellaris website and take a peek behind the veil.
