Firefly Studios has gone ahead and revealed plans for Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition using a roadmap before the title’s launch on July 15.
For the thousands of fans anticipating the upcoming July 15th release of Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition, Firefly Studios has just stoked the flames of hype once more with detailed plans following release. Today, Firefly Studios has launched a roadmap showing fans what’s in store after the Definitive Edition launch. More importantly, the announcement serves as an assurance that the studio will support the title with two major planned updates in 2025. Firefly has posted the whole video announcing the roadmap and can be seen below.
Firefly Studios boasts fan statistics of “195,000 demo downloads and 230,000 wishlists” for Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition since it was revealed, and their full post-launch release plan includes usual fixes, improvements and balancing expected of an expanded RTS remaster. While that is what’s expected, Firefly Studios is also planning two major updates coming later in 2025. As a result of the aforementioned fan interest, aside from the already-announced Autumn and Winter Updates, two separate paid DLCs have been added to the studio’s plate for the upcoming Remaster.

The free Autumn Update will feature a series-first economic campaign as well as a new CPU-controlled commander. Five missions will challenge players to complete a series of economic objectives, leaning heavily into the city-builder gameplay mechanics of Stronghold Crusader. Three new maps will also be added during this free update, as well as the game’s free Winter Update, making a total of six new maps for free. The Winter Update adds a long-requested feature in Stronghold Crusader, the ability to customize CPU opponents, castles and campaigns. This allows players to create their ideal adversary to battle against on the maps of the Definitive Edition.
The pair of paid DLCs will introduce two new CPU opponents each, and a series of challenging missions known to fans as a “skirmish trail will be introduced. As far as future updates go, that’s all Firefly Studios shared with fans for now. Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition launches on July 15, and fans can find more information on the official website leading up to release.
