Nightdive Studios, the ones behind the System Shock Remake, has revealed a massive new performance update for the game.
The Switch and Switch 2 are the headliners for this update, with the performance upgrades provided to them being extremely substantial. Officially called the System Shock Parity Patch v2.1, the owners of the game on Switch can expect a massive boost in game stability and visual improvements as well. To be exact, the original Switch can now run 900p docked and 720p handheld, plus a dynamic resolution and a target fps of 30. The Switch 2, on the other hand, runs at a well-off 1440p at 60fps when docked and 1080p at 60fps when handheld.

“System Shock Version 2.1, the ‘Parity Patch,’ marks nearly ten years since the System Shock Remake project began,” said producer at Nightdive Studios, Justin Khan. “This patch represents countless lessons learned, the dedication of a small but determined team, and our commitment to refining the experience across every platform. Thank you for sticking with us through the ups and downs of that journey.”
System Shock follows the story of a hacker protagonist trying to escape an infested space station known as Citadel Station. Players will fight off and sneak by mutated monsters that are controlled by the station’s megalomaniac AI, SHODAN, who had her ethical constraints removed and subsequently tries to annihilate humanity while claiming godhood. Along with a murderous AI, there are also many puzzles, traps, and more for the player to deal with in their escape from the station.

System Shock is better than ever with the remake, and even better now if you have a Switch 2, with full support for Joy-Con features. Priced at $39.99 on almost every platform, the update lets the game look and play better for all.
