On Wednesday, 11 bit studios took to the internet to make the unfortunate announcement that The Alters will be delayed again, but not out of 2025.
The developer behind the titles Frostpunk and Children of Morta, 11 bit studios, announced on Wednesday that their upcoming latest third-person sci-fi survival title, The Alters would be hit with another delay ahead of release. The title was initially scheduled to be released during Q1 of 2025, but according to the announcement, it will be moved back to “later in the year.” The latest trailer for The Alters can be seen below.
For the uninitiated, The Alters is described by 11 bit studios as an “emotional sci-fi game with a unique blend of survival, adventure, and base-building elements” and features a blend of strategy and intriguing narrative beats. This is all brought together alongside a gameplay twist where the main protagonist, Jan Dolski, must clone alternate versions of himself to survive. Each of Dolski’s ‘Alters’ is equipped with its own unique personality quirks, and it’s up to the player to survive while contending with these Sci-Fi clone versions of yourself.
While 11 bit studios lament the delay decision, developers call it necessary and explain, “While we’d hoped to see the game arrive in Q1, 11 bit has ultimately made the decision to give the game the time it needs to be polished to perfection.”
11 bit studios have also released an ‘in-universe’ email to Dolski, his employer Ally Corps says “While we recognize that this may not be the update you were hoping for, this additional time is being dedicated to further refining mission parameters and ensuring that all essential systems meet Ally Corp’s uncompromising standards. Furthermore, it is also allowing us to integrate new enhancements into Project Dolly, ensuring that your eventual deployment is more exciting and rewarding than originally projected.”
Although The Alters has been delayed previously in October 2024, 11 bit studios hopes this will be the last delay heading into 2025. 11 bit studios has also not committed to a release date, merely stating The Alters has “a revised launch window set for later in the year.” Fans can head to the official 11 bit studios website for more information.
