In what could be considered maybe the least surprising news after a successful season 3 launch to favorable reviews, Amazon Original series The Boys confirmed a renewal for season 4.

After the release of the first three massive episodes of Season 3, Amazon Prime Video pulled back the curtain on future plans for the popular super hero show, The Boys, based on a realistic corruption-filled setting that sees what could happen if super heroes actually existed.

The series saw a huge increase in viewership with a 17% increase from season two, and 234% increase from season one, making the third season the most successful yet. Head of Global Television of Amazon Studios, Vernon Sanders said From our first conversation with Eric Kripke and the creative team about Season Three of The Boys, we knew the show was continuing to get even bolder—an impressive feat considering the wild success of the Emmy-nominated second season.”

Sanders added, “we are immensely proud of the cast and crew that has spawned a franchise for Prime Video, and we look forward to bringing more of The Boys to our customers,” regarding the show’s runaway appeal.

The Boys showrunner, Eric Kripke responded with “We’re thrilled to continue Butcher and the Boys’ fight against Homelander and the Seven, as well as comment on the insane world we’re living in,” regarding the season four renewal ahead of season three even reaching a conclusion. With recently released animated spin-off, The Boys: Diabolical also reaching success at Amazon Prime, and another untitled spin-off in the works, its safe to say The Boys aren’t going anywhere soon.

Season three also gained recognition from PETA, regarding the octopus scene with the series’ Aquaman equivalent The Deep (Chace Crawford), where pure guilt riddled the hero before consuming an eight armed aquatic octopus friend. The supes are on everyone’s radar.

With the resounding success of the series, and the announcement of season four, fans of the seven can rest assured the critically acclaimed series and all of its depth-soaked characters will grace screens for some time to come.
