Wizards of the Coast and Invoke announced Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, an original third-person single-player action-adventure game, at The Game Awards 2025.
Developed by Invoke Studios, the new Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons title revealed at The Game Awards 2025 puts players in the role of Kaatri, a veteran warrior who makes a pact to wield otherworldly magic against dark powers. As any D&D Warlock would have done to gain their powers. The team at Invoke was more concerned with making an immersive world title, not just catering to D&D, while developing Warlock.
While Warlock is set in the world of D&D (with cameos and easter eggs galore), there’s no dice rolling, and the developers wanted this title to feel like a standalone action adventure title with players not feeling left out due to the staggering amount of lore D&D provides. Warlock can be played by D&D fans and newcomers to the universe of D&D alike, without any hang-ups on exposition. A teaser trailer has also been revealed by WOTC, and it can be seen below.
The role of Kaatri features full performance capture by the award-winning actress, Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica, Lucifer), to extend immersion for players and make the title move as smoothly as possible. President of Wizards of the Coast, John Hight, said, “Invoke has crafted a world that captures the dangerous wonder at the heart of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS where players can push the limits of Kaatri’s magic and discover what lies beyond,” regarding Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons revealed at The Game Awards 2025.
General Manager of Invoke, Dominic Guay, agrees with WOTC and says, “Working with our colleagues at Wizards of the Coast on a brand as rich as D&D has given the team the creative freedom and support to build a new, ambitious open-world experience for players. We’re excited to finally announce WARLOCK and looking forward to sharing gameplay details in the future,” sharing in the excitement of the new game announcement and debut title from Invoke.
While announced at The Game Awards 2025, Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons will not see a release until at least 2027. Fans can explore the official WOTC website for more information in the meantime.
