The Last of Us 2 Delayed Indefinitely

With the Covid-19 epidemic spreading across the globe, it is to be expected games and other media will be delayed, and this prved to be the case with The Last of Us Part 2.

In an announcement released today, Sony PlayStation outlined that The Last of Us Part II and Marvel’s Iron Man VR would be delayed until further notice. In the tweet, Sony outlined that “Logistically, the global crisis is preventing us from providing the launch experience our players deserve.”

In a more detailed statement, Naughty Dog outlined that “we’re nearly done with development of The Last of Us Part II. We are in the midst of fixing our final bugs.” but went on to state that “even with us finishing the game, we were faced with the reality that due to logistics beyond our control, we couldn’t launch The Last of Us Part II to our satisfaction.”

This is not the first delay The Last of Us Part 2 has faced, originally slated to launch on February 22, 2020, athough due to the complex nature of the game, that date was pushed to May 29, with the games director Neil Druckmann stating that “We realized we simply didn’t have enough time to bring the entire game up to a level of polish we would call Naughty Dog quality.”

There is at this point no new date for when The Last of Us Part 2 or Marvel’s Iron Man VR are slated to launch, but CGMagazine will keep you updated as soon as more information is released.
