The Simpsons returns to mobile games for the first time in 13 years, in partnership with one of the most iconic board games ever, Monopoly GO!
It was just announced that The Simpsons will be taking over MONOPOLY GO! in a new limited-time update starting June 3. The update contains plenty of new in-game features, as well as an animated short featuring Will Ferrell as Mr. Monopoly and Harry Shearer as Mr. Burns. Eric Keyes, a character designer for The Simpsons who’s been around since the first season, was part of the team that brought the collaboration to life.
MONOPOLY GO! is a mobile game developed by Scopely that combines traditional Monopoly gameplay with the added feature of building up a continuous fortune between games. The main Monopoly system is single-player, but there are some light multiplayer elements called bank heists and take-downs that allow users to win money from other players.
Alongside various other mini-games, tokens, collectibles, and surprises, here is the full list of features coming to the collaboration update between MONOPOLY GO! and The Simpsons.
- Episodes: At the heart of the experience are narrative-driven Episodes, where original Simpsons-inspired storylines unfold inside MONOPOLY GO! every two weeks.
- From Homer-triggered nuclear meltdowns to a disappearance inside Krustyland, each Episode plays out across interconnected seasonal boards, collectible Episode Sticker Sets, themed mini-games and short animated sequences that carry players from one adventure to the next.
- Episode Sticker Sets: Every new Episode introduces a limited-time Sticker Set inspired by the latest Simpsons story, featuring collectible artwork, character journeys and exclusive rewards, only available during that Episode window.
- The Simpsons Run: Every two weeks, a new Springfield resident takes over the Free Parking tile, launching character-driven runs across the board packed with hazards and humour inspired by their most memorable quirks.
- From Homer wheezing his way through Springfield before falling into nuclear waste, to Marge breaking into her iconic Krump dance, the feature packs plenty of Simpsons-themed laughs directly onto the MONOPOLY GO! board.
- Simpsons-Themed Shutdown & Heists: Springfield chaos takes over classic MONOPOLY GO! shutdowns and heists, with runaway Monorails, wrecking-ball destruction and hilariously over-the-top animation inspired by the show’s most memorable disasters.
- Bribe Wiggum: A new twist on “Go to Jail” lets players bribe Chief Wiggum for a shot at bigger rewards – though in true Simpsons and MONOPOLY GO! fashion, things can spiral out of control just as quickly.
- Simpsons Chance Cards: More than 50 Simpsons-themed Chance Cards, packed with classic references, memes and cheeky one-liners inspired by the show’s most memorable moments.
Matt Selman, Showrunner and Executive Producer of The Simpsons, was excited to see the iconic television show take on another successful collaboration. He said, “[…] finding partners who really understand the humour and spirit of the show matters a lot. The Scopely team brought a ton of creativity and attention to detail to this experience, and they packed the game with jokes, references and weird little surprises that fans will have fun discovering.”
The MONOPOLY GO! and The Simpsons update will be running from June 3 to July 29. If you’re looking forward to seeing new adventures with The Simpsons cast, or if you’d like to try out MONOPOLY GO!, you can find more information about the game on the official MONOPOLY GO! website.
