Ubisoft Toronto is inviting the public behind the curtain this spring as it celebrates 15 years of game development excellence during Doors Open Toronto.

Having set up shop in Toronto—in the same building CGMagazine once called home—Ubisoft Toronto is marking a major milestone this spring. The acclaimed video game studio is celebrating its 15th anniversary by opening its doors to the public for a rare, behind-the-scenes experience. The festivities begin during Doors Open Toronto, the city’s annual celebration of architecture and public space, inviting fans and curious visitors alike to step inside the creative heart of some of gaming’s biggest franchises.

Located at 224 Wallace Ave., Ubisoft Toronto will welcome guests on May 24 and 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering exclusive tours of its historic 1922 brick-and-beam building that once housed GE. The studio—known for its distinctive water tower and expansive, light-filled interiors—will showcase the artistry and innovation behind titles such as Far Cry 6, Watch Dogs: Legion, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Remake and Star Wars Outlaws. Central to the tour is the Performance Capture Studio—a sprawling 12,000-square-foot facility with 30-foot ceilings, towering scaffolding and massive stunt beams—where visitors can witness firsthand the technology and teamwork behind blockbuster game development.

“We’re thrilled to be celebrating our 15th anniversary at Doors Open Toronto and are proud to have been part of the Ontario video game industry’s growth and success,” said Darryl Long, managing director at Ubisoft Toronto. “We’re looking forward to sharing our creative space with the community and can’t wait for them to experience the magic behind our games, brought to life by our talented teams.”

As Ubisoft details, this is a celebration of more than the studio’s achievements. It’s also a showcase of the studio’s ongoing commitment to nurturing local talent and fostering innovation in Ontario’s game development sector. Since opening in 2010 as one of the province’s first AAA studios, Ubisoft Toronto has played a pivotal role in job creation, mentorship and community support. Signature programs like Ubisoft Toronto NEXT and Develop at Ubisoft have provided invaluable pathways for students and emerging professionals, while partnerships with initiatives such as Hack the ROM and Interactive Ontario’s Indie Super Boost continue to strengthen the local ecosystem.

Going beyond just events taking place at the studio itself, and as part of Doors Open Toronto’s “Play” theme, Narrative Director Navid Khavari will participate in a panel discussion at the MaRS Discovery District, exploring the cultural significance of video games and their role in connecting communities. The event, titled Ready Player One: A Dive into Toronto’s Video Game Industry, will feature voices from across the city’s vibrant creative landscape.

As the city comes together to celebrate play in all its forms, Ubisoft Toronto stands as a testament to the power of imagination, collaboration and homegrown talent.
