Lyrical Games unveiled a new trailer for Valor Mortis at the Triple-i Initiative showcase, revealing first-person Soulslike combat by developer One More Level.
One More Level is known for its approach to high-octane titles (like Ghostrunner and its sequel), and they’ve brought their next title to the Triple-i Initiative showcase for fans to get a look behind the curtain. Valor Mortis is a dark, supernatural reimagining of 19th-century Europe, where a mysterious plague ravages the continent following Napoleon Bonaparte’s conquest, and you play as William, a resurrected soldier of the Grande Armée guided by Napoleon’s disembodied voice. The trailer can be seen below, courtesy of Lyrical Games.
Valor Mortis‘ new trailer showcases tools of the trade that players will have at their disposal, including traversal mechanics that tip their cap to the developer’s previous release, Ghostrunner. Players will be able to deploy a grapple hook and use parkour and wall-running that let William get the jump on his enemies from more advantageous positions. William also uses a rapier, a high-skill melee weapon that rewards well-timed parries and precise dodges. Players will also come face-to-face with some grotesque monsters, like The Orphan. This abomination lurks in the city sewers and has a feature that allows its gaping chest hole to rain acid down on the player. How fun!

The entire unnerving, horrifying aesthetic is tied together with an original score co-composed by Arkadiusz Reikowski (known for the Silent Hill 2 Remake, The Medium, and Layers of Fear 1 and 2), alongside One More Level’s in-house composer, Oskar Bała. Players will not be limited to the rapier; many weapons will be usable in William’s arsenal against the plague. These include pistols and supernatural abilities that can deliver serious punishment.
Valor Mortis will launch sometime in the Fall of 2026, and fans can wishlist the title now on Steam.
