Vampire Survivors Hits Legal Roadblock on PlayStation Cross-Save Feature

Legal Woes

Vampire Survivors Legal Problem Causes PS4 and PS5 to Miss Out on Cross-Save Functionality

The previously announced cross-save feature coming to Vampire Survivors has run into a legal snag on PlayStation, and the chances are “very slim” that it will come to the platform.

In January, poncle announced that cross-save functionality was coming to Vampire Survivors in patch version 1.13. The feature would allow players to pick up and play their Vampire Survivors characters and accounts, maintaining progress as they moved from platform to platform — similar to how Genshin Impact works. Today, poncle confirmed that due to a legal issue, the rollout of cross-save functionality has been indefinitely postponed on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The recently released Survivors chaos roadmap for 2025, showing fans what’s coming to Vampire Survivors, can be seen below.

On the official Vampire Survivors X (formerly Twitter) account, poncle explained the scenario surrounding the PlayStation cross-save problem. The statement begins, “Last month, we told everyone that Cross-Save would be available on PlayStation 4/5, PC, Xbox, Android and iOS alongside our next free VS update in April,” and poncle adds, “But at the last minute, we’ve run into a legal issue on PlayStation we weren’t aware of that requires us to share info on our partners that we’re unable to. The chances of Cross-Save coming to PlayStation consoles are now very slim.”

Although the chance of cross-save coming to PlayStation is slim, poncle continued by saying it’s “not impossible, so we’re going to keep working alongside PlayStation to resolve these problems. We’re so sorry to build up any anticipation for this feature on PlayStation only to change plans at the last minute.” poncle also noted that fans hoping to earn PlayStation trophies on the go were out of luck from the beginning, as trophy support was never included in the cross-save functionality.

Genshin Impact notably uses a cross-save system that works with PlayStation, so as of this posting, poncle has not elaborated on what was meant by “requires us to share info on our partners” as a reason for the failed PlayStation rollout.

Cross-save is still coming to PC, Xbox, Android and iOS in “the next few weeks.” Nintendo Switch cross-save functionality will follow at a later date.
