Big Video Games: The Movie Sequel Announced By Mediajuice Studios

The award-winning documentary, Video Games: The Movie is slated to receive a sequel thanks to an announcement from Mediajuice Studios.

Friday, Mediajuice Studios pulled back the curtain 10 years after the release of the award-winning documentary, Video Games: The Movie, to reveal that they have a sequel documentary in the works. The original film was directed by Jeremy Snead and narrated by Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings, Stranger Things), and fans will be happy to learn that both are reprising their roles for the sequel.

Director Jeremy Snead said “What started as a passion project has become a testament to the ever-growing significance of videogames in our lives. It’s been an incredible journey seeing the fans continue to embrace the film, and I’m thrilled to continue exploring through this new documentary where the gaming industry is and where it’s going.” Sean Astin has also chimed in, saying “It’s mind-blowing to think just how far the gaming industry has come in the short ten years since Video Games: The Movie came out,””I’m always excited to work with Jeremy, especially on a project that continues to shine a light on this dynamic and evolving world of gaming.”

The next film will be titled Video Games: The Next Level, and will explore further evolutions in the gaming industry including eSports, the impact of VR and augmented reality (Pokémon Go released in 2016 after the original film) and the growing importance of streaming platforms. On top of that, the new documentary is also set to dive into the growing importance of Indie Game development, accessibility innovations and the major significance of Video Games on a social level today.
