CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be receiving one final update, ten years after its initial release. And it’s a big one — adding cross-platform mod support. Although we don’t have a release date, the update will be coming later in 2025.
Even more than cross-platform support, however, this means mods for The Witcher 3 will be available on console for the very first time. That’s huge, but especially for a game that has a really vibrant and expansive community creating mods. It should be noted that mods will only be available on the enhanced versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and not the original PS4 and Xbox One releases. It’ll be interesting to see if something similar happens for Cyberpunk 2077 in the future.
The new patch was announced as part of the 10th anniversary celebration for The Witcher 3, where CD Projekt also announced the game has passed 60 million units sold.
If you want to make sure you’re prepared ahead of time, you will need a mod.io account in order to access mods, and that needs to be linked to your CD Projekt Red account. If you’re on PC, you can continue to use any mod service, such as Nexus Mods, but in order to get mods on console, you will be required to use that mod.io account to download anything. Luckily, CD Projekt has also put together a helpful FAQ to explain the entire process.
With this final update for the game, all focus will now likely shift to The Witcher 4. While CD Projekt has stressed the next game is still quite a way off, the company did recently release an infographic showing how many developers are assigned to each project. The Witcher 4 has the bulk of the work right now, with 407 developers.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
