On Thursday, Microsoft lifted the curtain for fans and revealed an Xbox Developer Direct is coming this month and they’ve teased a new reveal with it.
The Xbox Developer Direct has been home to some serious game reveals since they started in 2023. In 2023, Hi-Fi Rush and Forza Motorsport were announced during the show, proving that massive announcements can land on Microsoft’s solo Developer Direct showcases. On Thursday, Xbox has announced yet another Developer Direct is coming this month, and will return on January 23. During the Xbox Developer Direct, fans will be able to get a peek at what software is coming to the Xbox ecosystem of consoles.

Developer Direct showcases are typically hosted by the developers themselves, and each developer has time to explain what they’re showcasing during the event. The Direct has confirmed it will be visiting Compulsion Games in Montreal, Canada, Sandfall Interactive in Montpellier, France, and id Studios in Richardson, Texas all to showcase the latest developments of the in-development titles: South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Doom: The Dark Ages.

It’s worth mentioning after confirming the Xbox Developer Direct would be visiting studios to showcase new developments on already revealed games, the official release mentioned they will “visit a surprise location to see another studio’s brand new game.” This means fans will be treated to a brand new reveal on January 23. Last year’s Xbox Developer Direct gave fans a first look at Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and new Avowed gameplay, so this year aims to show fans another big release to start the 2025 year.
Fans can tune in to the Xbox Developer Direct on the official Xbox YouTube account when it airs on January 23, at 1:00 p.m. EST.
