Konami Announces eFootball 2022 Available Now Worldwide

The Konami eFootball free-to-play football simulation game will have weekly online challenges amongst other new features ahead of its first major update this Fall.

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., has today announced the global launch of eFootball™ 2022 for PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10, and PC Steam®. This launch arrives ahead of the game’s first major update this Fall, which also comes at no extra cost.

To celebrate the launch of eFootball 2022, there will be an eFootball Kick-Off campaign at launch featuring an Online Match campaign and the event “Worldwide Clubs”. The Online Match campaign will give players the opportunity to earn “Chance Deal” contracts based on the number of online matches they play. Chance Deals give players the opportunity to obtain “Legendary” player cards, an item that can be used to strengthen their Creative Teams in the Fall update. Online Match campaign will run starting now until November 8, 2021, at 01:59 UTC.

Specific rewards are as follows:

  • Chance Deal #1 – achieved after 10 games
  • Chance Deal #2 – achieved with 15 or more games
  • Chance Deal #3 – achieved with 20 or more games

The Worldwide Clubs special event allows players to use their favorite clubs and take on their rivals from around the world. From today, players will be able to delve into eFootball World, where they can enjoy matches with real-life teams both on- and offline.

The online Event mode will allow users to play against one another in ‘challenge events’. Each week, players will be able to select one of over 200 licensed teams and compete in various challenges to earn GP that can be used in the next major update. Once users select their preferred team, they can only use this team for the duration of the current event – this will reset once that challenge’s event period is over.

There will be two challenges per event period; completing the first will unlock the second. Players will experience no limitations to the number of games they can play, even after the challenges are completed. Whilst the reward will decrease after the initial completion, users can still build their GP as eFootball operates on a ‘Play to Win’ structure.

eFootball 2022 will offer cross-generation matchmaking online (PlayStation®5 vs. PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S vs. Xbox One) so players can fully experience the Event mode regardless of their console generation. The Worldwide Clubs event will run starting now until November 8, 2021 at 01:59 UTC.

Players will also be able to play offline against the AI or a friend with nine fully authentic Partner Clubs to choose from, all of which appear in the latest official trailer. They will also have access to the following six stadiums: Camp Nou, Old Trafford, Allianz Stadium, Emirates Stadium, Allianz Arena, and eFootball Stadium.

The Fall major update will add core features to eFootball 2022, including:

  • Creative Teams – create your own “dream team” by signing footballers and coaches that match your favourite formations and tactics, then train and strengthen them to play against players from around the world
  • New Player Types – there will be four new types of players added to the game: Standard, Trending, Featured and Legendary
  • Contracts – users will be able to sign players via one of two contract types: Chance Deals and Nominating Contracts
  • New Match Modes – users will have access to the eFootball™ Creative League, Tour Event, Challenge Event, Online Quick Match and Online Match Lobby modes
