Amazon Echo Show 11

Brutalist Review Style (Version 2)

The Amazon Echo Show 11 is the latest iteration on the Echo line, bringing with it solid-sounding speakers, a vibrant display and the new and improved Alexa+ AI assistant. I’ve been a fan of the Amazon Echo range of smart appliances ever since purchasing the Amazon Echo Spot in 2024, and the Amazon Echo Show has been a nice upgrade for a first-timer, going from a simple clock display to one of Amazon’s larger-screen solutions.

As the larger-format SKU in the Amazon Echo Show Line, the Amazon Echo Show 2025 model is designed for those who want a centralized hub for their home automation, offering a large enough display that goes beyond simply displaying basic information, like time, weather, and reminders. Featuring a vibrant 10.95” LCD screen and an equally impressive spatial audio full-range driver, doubling as the base of the device, Amazon’s latest AI-powered hub is large and elegant in equal measure, making it suitable for most home environments.

The Amazon Echo Show’s LCD has a resolution of 1920 x 1200, which is slightly higher than a typical Full HD screen. Moreover, despite relying on an LCD screen, the Amazon Echo Show 11 provides a surprisingly vibrant display that looks great on the countertop or table, with only minor light bleed from the LCD panels, which is only really visible on dark screens.

The larger screen of the Amazon Echo Show 11 makes it a joy to use for practical uses, such as browsing the Amazon storefront, checking the weather, or trying out some of the various widgets available on the Amazon marketplace. Placing the Amazon Echo Show near the kitchen felt the most appropriate for my use case.

Instead of propping my phone up or lugging a laptop or tablet to the kitchen, having the Amazon Echo Show nearby made it a cinch to look up recipes quickly and even top off household essentials right from arm’s length in the pantry. Amazon’s new and improved Alexa+ AI assistant also made the back-and-forth of asking for specific things feel less robotic and much more natural, allowing for a more seamless experience, in line with other popular AIs such as Google Gemini.

Asking more filtered questions without having to rephrase or reprompt is also a very nice feature, such as being able to ask for specific measurements to adjust recipes for smaller quantities on the fly, or even the option to email the answer directly to yourself. At one point, Alexa+ prompted me with what I was planning to cook with, prompting me to ask it more niche questions, like whether it could distinguish between my stove and my air fryer, which it ultimately could, providing me with recipes tailored for both.

Those in the market for something to have on as a secondary screen to casually binge content can find the prospect of the Amazon Echo Show 11 quite attractive, as its robust-sounding speakers can easily fill the room, even a loud kitchen, making it perfect for casual viewing. Even disregarding the screen, the Amazon Echo Show 11’s impressive-sounding speakers are an order of magnitude better than my Echo Dot, making it more in line with the sound profile of a portable Bluetooth speaker, or in other words, the perfect Amazon Music-powered radio and or jukebox.

Suppose you’re like me and only really use the screen for the occasional recipe or for browsing the storefront. The vibrant screen of the Amazon Echo Show 11 is still perfect for serving as an elegant-looking digital photo frame. Offering users a direct feed of their photo backups that play when the Echo Show is idle, with additional options to switch from your personal photo backups to more curated experiences, such as famous works of art or nature shots, reminiscent of the LG Gallery mode found in some of their higher-end TVs and Google’s idle animation for photography on some Android-powered devices.

Of course, all of this comes with the ask of committing to the Amazon ecosystem, meaning, if you don’t already use services like Amazon Photos or use other services for your personal photo repository, the Amazon Echo Show 11 might not be the best option. Realistically, the Amazon Echo Show 11, like other Echo products, is designed first and foremost for Amazon customers, making it a fair proposition for those who have already invested.

Those worried about privacy: the Amazon Echo Show 11 features a button and a bright LED indicator on the side of the device that turns red when muted, making it easy to turn off its active-listening capabilities if desired. If you’re comfortable with a more brainy AI assistant, however, the real star of the show within the Amazon Echo Show 11 is its integration with Alexa+, transforming it from a functional but binary-feeling robot to a more agentic experience that feels much more natural and seamless.

If there is one element of uncertainty when it comes to Alexa+ integration, it is the fact that currently, the service is included for Amazon Prime subscribers without any additional fees, making it the perfect complement on top of the fast shipping and access to media libraries that come with services like Prime Video and Music.

Without a clear indication of whether this will always be the case, it’s hard to truly recommend upgrading for those who already have legacy devices. In other words, Alexa+ is an integral part of the experience that eclipses previous AI models, with its nuanced and natural-sounding conversational skills, its ability to discern objects through its camera capabilities and its more agentic approach to help the end-user, the brains of the Amazon Echo Show 11 truly feel like a real assistant.

Ultimately, the Amazon Echo Show 11 is an impressive addition to those into home automation, made better with Amazon Alexa+. Those with larger spaces will truly benefit from easier access to their range of smart appliances, on top of a suite of familiar Amazon-centric services that take advantage of its large-format screen and booming speaker solution, making it an attractive buy for Amazon Prime customers.
