Brutalist Review Style (Version 2)

The AVerMedia VERSATI go cardioid microphone was very easy to use right after I assembled it with its sturdy metal tripod. People have been complimenting how clear I sound on Discord and Zoom, so this was a major help in clarity. I recorded some Twitch content with it and my voice never sounded clearer. The compact design made it easy to use on my desk and laptop, making it portable, even though it’s heavier than my previous devices.

Out of the box, the AVerMedia VERSATI go microphone includes a 2-meter USB-A to USB-C cable, a sturdy metal mini-tripod, a swivel tripod mount, a screw adapter (5/8″ to 1/4″), an Allen key, and a quick start guide. The mini-tripod was built sturdy and was great for on-the-go meetings or recordings on my laptop. It folds up nice and easy too.

The AVerMedia VERSATI go microphone offers excellent sound quality with AI noise reduction that eliminates background noise. This is what makes this versatile microphone perfect for gaming, streaming, and podcasting. It is an easy plug-and-play convenience microphone with its USB connection, able to work on most PCs, Macs and laptops. The onboard volume control and mute button feature an LED indicator and a 3.5mm headphone jack for easy real-time monitoring. This allows for quick and live control over users’ audio.

“The AVerMedia VERSATI go microphone offers excellent sound quality with AI noise reduction, making it perfect for gaming, streaming, and podcasting.”

For the technical audiophiles, the AVerMedia VERSATI Go Cardioid Microphone Review crystal-clear sound allows a high-resolution 96kHz sample rate and 24-bit depth. It has a frequency response of 20 Hz-20 kHz. All of this could be tested and customized through AVerMedia’s downloadable application. The AVerMedia Streaming Center app is very intuitive, if you have used other apps like OBS Studio or StreamLabs OBS

The audio settings in the Streaming Center app included Noise Suppression, Noise Gate, De-Esser, Effects, Reverb, Compressor and EQ. After playing around with different settings for about 30 minutes or so, I found some good profiles for various tasks. This app has many settings and is similar to my StreamLabs OBS profiles, making it comparable to other streaming apps.

I was lucky enough to get the full experience with this microphone because I was able to set it up at my homework desk with the AVerMedia FLEXI go mic arm. There was nothing to assemble, and just needed to be loosened and unfurled to the user’s liking. The knobs to tighten each joint felt great and consistently tight enough to get the job done. The angles I could choose from were also perfect for most setups, whether I wanted it on the right or left. The sturdy metal construction provides excellent durability and strength. I tested it with several cameras to assess its weight-bearing capacity. It did not disappoint.

“With its high-resolution 96kHz sample rate, 24-bit depth, and frequency response of 20 Hz–20 kHz, the VERSATI go delivers crystal-clear sound.”

I appreciated all the angles, supporting both high-profile and low-profile setups for creators. Whenever I was adjusting the joints while in a game of Valorant, it was not noisy—which is a major plus. The inclusion of hook and loop tape for cable management is great, but a few extra features could enhance its value and justify the price. The bottom-line for the FLEXI go mic arm is that the $99.99 price point may only be justified if you have a specific setup in mind.

AVerMedia is a leader in digital video and audio technology, and the strong performance of these products demonstrates that. Assembling the microphone and its arm was a straightforward and intuitive process. There is an instruction manual included, but it is so easy to set up right outside the box that you will most likely not need it. As someone who has used various cardioid mics from Maono and ZaxSound, this will be my new everyday use mic because of how much bang-for-its-buck it gives.

At just $69.99, the VERSATI Go offers incredible value for anyone seeking to upgrade from the subpar quality of a built-in laptop microphone or earbuds like AirPods. It is very user-friendly, and gets the job done, whether it is for content creation, podcasting, singing or voice acting. While I could not justify the price of the FLEXI go, it adds to the streamer feel and nails any angle the user needs it for. However, the included mini-tripod is good enough. The VERSATI go is a great buy for those looking to make their first upgrade from a built-in mic on most products.
