With Twitchcon underway, companies go all out to show off their latest wares. BEACN—who unveiled the BEACN Mic, BEACN Mix, and BEACN Mix Create almost two years ago—has a new item ready to add to their portfolio. They are entering the microphone arm game with the BEACN Mic Stand.
The BEACN Mic Stand is a low-profile mic arm, meaning that the arm stretches out parallel to your desk, allowing it to pass under your monitor or, at the very least, not get in the way of it. It’s capable of holding 2.2kg (4.4 lbs) without sagging and is adaptable to either clamp onto your desk or be installed directly into the desk.
“As you move the BEACN Mic Stand around, you don’t feel like you are manipulating a piece of gear for hobbyists but a genuine piece of studio gear.”

Included in the box are the two pieces that make up the arm, the arm base and clamp, an extension tube (should you decide to make your low profile mic arm less… low), a ball head, where you would actually attach the microphone and other hardware to assemble and adjust the BEACN Mic Stand. Assembly is a little bit of a task, but nothing that a complete novice couldn’t handle in only a few moments.
While companies have come up with a number of solutions for cable management in mic arms, including straps and magnetic plates, BEACN may have come up with the simplest and best solution. They have flexible plastic channels along the bottom of both parts of the arm. You can just squeeze the cable into the cable organization channel, and there it will stay without being rigidly stuck in place and no worries about pieces of the arm coming loose in the process.
Another advantage I have found in someone who reviews a lot of microphones is that I can run an XLR and USB cable through the organization channels at the same time with space left to spare, allowing me to swap out microphones as needed quickly. I know that’s a bit of a niche use case, but it speaks to the ability of the BEACN Mic Stand to handle whatever cables you throw at it.

My only issue with the cable management is that I wish the cables could be fed up through the top of the lower arm into the cable channels of the upper arm via a hole that could accommodate an XLR cable connector. It would make for a slightly cleaner transition between the arms, but it is in no way a showstopper to feed your cables through as it currently is.

The BEACN Mic Stand is built spectacularly with strong metals and custom adjustments to the tension of the arm with the provided adjustment tool. The ball head, also while really well-built, is going to keep your mic where you put it. As you move the BEACN Mic Stand around, you don’t feel like you are manipulating a piece of gear for hobbyists but a genuine piece of studio gear.
The BEACN Mic Stand will be available around the end of the month (exact date TBD) for a price of $119.99 USD, a price that is more or less in line with other high-end mic arms on the market. The Mic Stand comes in light and dark versions, the light version being the only light mic arm that has no dark parts, allowing you to create a complete light-themed aesthetic for your setup. But whatever theme you choose, you’ll know that you’re getting a quality mic arm.
