Final UX5000 Wireless Headphones Review

Brutalist Review Style (Version 2)

Getting to look at the Final UX5000 Wireless Headphones was somewhat of a treat for me, since it’s been quite a while since I’ve been able to try my hand at a solid pair of headphones. I’ve said in the past that I’m always on the lookout for good headphones, but moreso nowadays that I live in an exceptionally loud country like Brazil.

Jokes aside, like I’ve also said in the past, good sound design can significantly elevate a piece of media and having a good pair of headphones that allow you to pick up on those subtle details can be really important. The Final UX5000 Wireless Headphones are one such pair of headphones—offering an excellent listening experience in a solid package.

The first thing you notice about the Final UX5000 Wireless Headphones, naturally, is their sleek yet sturdy design. They’re kind of a low-profile set of headphones, with a stylish “textured matte” finish that gives them a distinct feel across your fingers, but also keeps them looking good even after prolonged use. Weighing in at 310g, you’ll hardly even notice they’re on your head.

Despite being a fairly compact set, its 40mm earcups fit comfortably, and the padded headband keeps them from moving in even extreme situations. I tested the Final UX5000 Wireless Headphones with a short run on the treadmill and was genuinely impressed not only with how well they stayed affixed to my head, even as I began to perspire, but also how solid the sound quality stayed throughout.

Similar to my JBL Quantum 910Ps, the Final UX5000 Wireless Headphones boast a Frequency Response of 20Hz–40kHz with a sensitivity of 100-110 dB SPL @1 kHz / 1 mW. When testing these headphones with a little The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the ambient sounds of nature combined with the gentle twinkle of piano keys were clearly captured, isolating the world around me and fully immersing me within the experience.

“… the Final UX5000 Wireless Headphones have some degree of future-proofing built in…”

This is assisted by the Final UX5000 Wireless Headphones’ Hybrid Noise Cancelling, which combines feedforward and feedback methods with a “unique algorithm” to ensure sound quality is not affected. Whereas most headphones will naturally let in a little bit of sound, the overall sturdiness of the device, combined with this unique ANC system, does a pretty amazing job at keeping out external sounds while audio is playing. Seriously, my wife was talking to me as I was listening to the Main Theme of Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Flute, and I genuinely had no idea until I saw her mouth moving.

Throughout all my years of both testing and using headphones for gaming or music, I’ve never really had a set that allowed me to control my media right from the headphones—perhaps with the exception of the Logitech Zone Wireless. In the past, it always seemed like control options came in the form of big buttons on the side of an earcup, which is something I appreciate, don’t get me wrong, but I was genuinely impressed with the UX5000’s minimalist control stick.

It’s tucked neatly on the right-ear cup in a way that makes operating it with your thumb convenient and functional. It blends so naturally with the rest of the device that you almost forget that it’s there. Going back to my treadmill testing, it made controlling the music an absolute breeze, even during high-movement activity.

On a technical level, there’s a lot to like about the Final UX5000 Wireless Headphones. Utilizing both Bluetooth 5.4 and a 3.5mm audio jack, there’s almost no latency when listening either wired or wireless. Its 700mAh battery is incredibly solid—offering up to 45 hours of listening time with the ANC turned on, and 65 with it off.

Not only that, but the Final UX5000 Wireless Headphones have some degree of future-proofing built in, as the earcups are attached magnetically, allowing for easy user replacement, and the battery itself is replaceable, eliminating the need for lengthy repair services or replacement headsets should anything stop working. The Final UX5000 Wireless Headphones may be the first user-considerate pair of headphones I’ve ever reviewed/used, and I really appreciate that.

The Final UX5000 Wireless Headphones are just a solid unit, top to bottom. While they don’t have the flair of other devices, they don’t really need them either since they prioritize what matters—the sound. At $249.99, they are still a bit of an investment, but given their designed-to-last approach, its definitley a worthwhile one.
