Gamesir G7 Pro 8K PC Aimlabs Edition

Brutalist Review Style (Version 2)

The Gamesir G7 Pro 8K PC Aimlabs Edition Wireless Controller is the latest variant of the G7 Pro lineup. Officially licenced in collaboration with Aimlabs, Gamesir’s latest G7 Pro controller is as functional as it is flashy. From its unique and customizable design to its feature set and hardware, there is a lot to appreciate about the G7 Pro 8K PC Aimlabs Edition Wireless Controller.

Following the same design as the rest of the G7 Pro lineup, the G7 Pro 8K Aimlabs Edition looks and feels great to hold. Donning an Aimlabs-inspired colour scheme and aesthetic, this variant of the G7 Pro looks sharp. From the blended paint scheme to the logo worked into the right side of the faceplate, the Aimlabs collaboration is evident. This theming is carried over to the dual-purpose docking station, which serves as both a charger and an optional wireless receiver, so you’ll only need to use one USB-A port if required, though a compact wireless dongle is included with the controller.

Offering a similar structure and feel to the official Xbox Series X|S controller, the G7 Pro refines the overall design in a couple of key ways. While both offer textured handholds on the underside of the palm grips, the G7 Pro uses a rubberized material that provides extra grip and adhesion, even when those palms get sweaty from hours of play. The topside of the palm grips also offers a textured finish, completing the look.

While the button layout is similar to that of an Xbox controller, there are a couple of notable differences. The G7 Pro offers swappable thumbsticks and D-Pad buttons and comes with an array of sticks and pads to choose from. While I appreciate the selection and how easy it is to swap the thumbsticks, the D-Pad does require a bit more work to swap, as it is snugly fastened in place. I resorted to a small prying tool I had on hand to remove the D-Pad, and was a bit concerned about damaging the pad in the process.

Additionally, the ABXY buttons are powered by optical microswitches that deliver exceptional response and impressive longevity. They feel great to press and offer a satisfying, quiet click when pressed. The DPad offers a similar experience, with a mechanical microswitch powering its input response.

The G7 Pro also includes four programmable buttons in addition to the standard button layout. Programmable via the Gamsir Connect app, the buttons are well-placed and remind me of the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro’s placement, though the G7 Pro includes only two along the palm grip; it does offer two additional buttons in line with the triggers on the top edge of the controller.

Gamesir has chosen the hardware for the G7 Pro well. Leveraging their own Mag-Res TMR Sticks Gen 2, the thumbsticks provide incredible precision and lower power consumption than traditional Hall-effect switches. The result is a much more precise movement resolution, which in turn translates into smoother, more precise movement. In testing, the sticks perform exceptionally well and can be fine-tuned even further from within the Gamesir Connect software.

Speaking of responsive design, the G7 Pro also offers 8K polling in both wired (USB-C) and 2.4GHz wireless. This raises the G7 Pro to the level of eSports competitiveness, and on this front, it delivers. The overall response is exceptional and provides smooth, instantaneous feedback to inputs. For an $89.99 controller, I’m quite impressed.

However, Gamesir didn’t stop her and offers an array of additional features. The inclusion of both adjustable rumble control and motion control via an adjustable 6-axis gyroscope is the icing on the cake for this impressive controller. Additionally, a built-in 3.5mm audio jack allows for traditional headset control in both wired and wireless modes. Overall, it is an impressive piece of hardware.

Battery life is in line with what I would expect from a 1200mAh battery. At 1000H polling rate and LED off, I was able to get over 20 hours of gameplay. When shifting to 8K polling, as one would expect, that number goes down, but I still had no issue gaming for longer play sessions at 8K on a single charge. With full support for wired play and charge, users will have no issue with longer gaming sessions while maintaining that sweet 8K polling rate.

While I’ve noted previously on the performance, I want to reiterate how impressive the G7 Pro 8K PC Aimlabs Edition Controller is. From overall comfort, button placement and button response, the G7 Pro is a great controller. It offers many of the features I’ve tested in other premium wireless PC controllers, while still managing to stay under the $100 price point. If you’re in the market for a more premium PC wireless controller experience but don’t want to break the bank, the Gamesir G7 Pro 8K PC Aimlabs Edition controller is a worthwhile option.
