The Razer Kraken has been a longtime staple of Razer products, with a push toward mixing flair and functionality into a gaming headset that has no competition. The Razer Kraken V4 is the latest edition in the lineup, and it continues its legacy with a slew of upgrades and comforts that perfectly balance performance and comfort.
The Razer Kraken V4 Gaming Headset’s build quality maintains the signature Kraken aesthetic from previous versions, sporting a sleek, modern design. The headset is constructed with a mix of durable plastic and high-quality, comfortable materials, ensuring it feels sturdy yet lightweight. The plush memory foam ear cushions and adjustable headband offer a comfortable fit for extended gaming sessions. The build quality feels premium, and the ear cups have a satisfying amount of swivel, which adds to the overall comfort. Between the large amounts of cushion around the headband and ear cups, the bendable headband, and the swivel on the ear cups, the Razer Kraken V4 Gaming Headset is easily the most comfortable headset I’ve worn in years.

One of the standout features of the Razer Kraken V4 is its audio performance. The headset sports THX spatial audio technology, which provides immersive 7.1 surround sound that simulates 3D audio environments. This adds a new layer of immersion, making gaming experiences more engaging by putting the player right in the thick of battle. This is most noticeable when playing first-person shooters and multiplayer-focused games like Call of Duty or Fortnite.

Between the THX spatial audio and the haptics integrated into the Razer Kraken V4, there has never been a more immersive experience available in the form factor of a gaming headset. The 40mm drivers deliver rich, clear sound with impressive bass response and balanced mids and highs. Whether you’re deep in a tactical shooter like Rainbow Six Siege or enjoying a cinematic RPG like Baldur’s Gate 3, the Kraken V4 excels in delivering a dynamic audio experience.
For more casual listening use, the Razer Kraken V4 holds up well, providing a balanced sound profile that is suitable for a wide range of content. The rich bass enhances explosions and impact sounds, while the clear mids and highs ensure that dialogues are easily distinguishable.

The Razer Kraken V4’s bass performance is particularly noteworthy. The lows are deep and punchy, making explosions, rumbling engines, and bass-heavy music come alive. Whether you’re diving into an intense match of Hunt: Showdown or enjoying some casual listening, the Kraken V4 provides an engaging and dynamic audio experience. The mids are crisp, ensuring that dialogue and vocal performances are clear and detailed. High frequencies are bright without being harsh, making the headset suitable for a wide range of sound.
This is made much clearer when using the Razer Kraken V4 Wireless Gaming Headset on a PC. The headset is set up in the new Razer Synapse App, which allows the user to fine-tune their audio experience to their liking and create custom sound profiles. The Kraken V4 supports Razer’s Chroma RGB lighting, which can be customized to sync with your other Razer peripherals or simply match your gaming setup’s aesthetic.

This level of personalization adds a fun and visually appealing element to the headset. I synced it with the other Razer products I own, which were made for a visual atmosphere that was well-balanced and was able to vibe off of each other. Specifically, setting all the products to an audio meter became my favourite, especially when playing first-person shooters, as the pulsating lights and the bullets whizzed by were breathtaking.

The Razer Kraken V4 features a fully retractable, wideband microphone that focuses on your voice while minimizing background noise. The microphone’s sound quality is solid, with clear and intelligible audio for in-game communication. The retractable design helps keep it out of the way when not in use, and the flexible boom allows for precise positioning. This is bolstered by the headset Game and Chat distinctions, allowing players to balance their preferred audio channel, one being in-game volume and the other chat volume. Having the user in control of almost every aspect of the Razer Kraken V4 Wireless Gaming Headset makes it a superior choice among gaming headsets.
When it comes down to it, the Razer Kraken V4 has quickly landed itself in my favourite headsets. Between the depth of customization options, comfort, and form factor, I really have nothing negative to say about the headset. Since Razer packs in connectivity options, if you don’t want to be wireless, it becomes as simple as plugging in the USB or easily turning on your Bluetooth. There is a lot to sink your teeth into with the Kraken V4, and I, for one, stand by this as being one of, if not the, best premium gaming headset.
