PSN “Welcome Back” program offers up free games

Sony will allow PS3 owners to download two full games from a selection of five first-party titles.

The PlayStation Network is finally back online, so Sony has announced the details for its “Welcome Back” appreciation program in North America and it’s going to include a few free games. Specifically, The company will offer digital versions of a selection of high-profile titles as free downloads for returning PS3 and PSP owners, and you’re allowed to choose two games from each of the lists. Players will have a 30-day window to claim their rewards once the PlayStation Store services return.

PS3 and PSP owners can choose two games from each of the following lists:

PS3
– Dead Nation
– Infamous
– Little Big Planet
– Super Stardust HD
– Wipeout HD + Fury

PSP
– Little Big Planet (PSP)
– ModNation Racers (PSP)
– Pursuit Force
– Killzone Liberation

In addition to the free games, Sony will be handing out a free month of PlayStation Plus to anyone with a PSN account, while current PS Plus subscribers will receive an additional 60 days of free subscription. There will also be over 100 free items available for PlayStation Home and a weekend of “On Us” free PSN movie rentals with titles and times that Sony will determine later.

Sony also has something for the Qriocity members affected by the outage. Those who currently have a Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscription will receive an extra 30 days for their trial, while paying members will similarly be given an additional 30 days plus an equivalent number of days to make up for the time lost.
