Schell Games and Innersloth have announced that Among Us 3D will launch on May 6, bringing next-level immersion to fans and newcomers.
Originally released in 2018, Among Us is getting a fresh new coat of paint with Among Us 3D, turning the 2D asymmetrical game into a 3D environment on May 6, 2025. Immersing the players further into the murder mystery title with a new look, Among Us 3D features Tag Mode, Proximity Voice Chat, new and returning tasks, and many more.
Released in 2018 and gaining popularity in 2020, Among Us is a 15-player murder mystery game set in space across five maps. Depending on how many players are in a lobby, up to three imposters are set loose to stop 3-12 Crewmates from completing their tasks, utilizing stealth, venting, sabotages, and persuasion during emergency meetings. To prevent the imposters from winning the game, the Crewmates will need to work together as they complete their tasks and vouch for their fellow Crewmates during the emergency meetings, but if the player fails to prove they are innocent of suspicious activities, they will be ejected from the ship.
Taking the chaotic game to the next level, Among Us 3D represents an improvement over its predecessor. It features a 3D environment with many new elements that enhance the gameplay experience for both veterans and newcomers. While the game was initially released on VR platforms, PC players can join the fun and play alongside their friends on Meta Quest, Steam VR, PlayStation VR 2, and PICO. It is important to note that Among Us 3D won’t be compatible with the original on any platform.
Stepping into Among Us 3D, there will be many features for players to anticipate. The features included are:
- Tag Mode – The Infected player has been unleashed to hunt down the Crewmate to spread the plague.
- Native Proximity Voice Chat – Communicate with your friends directly in-game without needing third-party software.
- Limited-Time Events – Participate in playing new game modes and roles and unlock cosmetics through events in 2025.
- New and Returning Minigames – Complete returning and new tasks in first-person mode.
- Customization Galore – Customize your bean with hats, gloves, and skins, using a new in-game currency, Stardust.
In the meantime, as players wait, Schell Games and Innersloth are hosting a Powered by Wishlists Challenge. From what is revealed so far, players can unlock these rewards by reaching specific Steam Wishlists milestones:
- 333,333 Wishlists – Every Crewmate unlocks a new hat.
- 444,444 Wishlists – A second hat will be rewarded to Crewmates.
- 555,555 – Not revealed yet.
- 777,777 – Not revealed yet.
