Arcade Edition adds four new challengers to Super Street Fighter IV

Earth and sky come together in the latest Asura's Wrath trailer 1

Evil Ryu and Oni have signed on for the latest iteration of the franchise.

As it turns out, last year’s Super Street Fighter IV won’t be the final re-release of Capcom’s flagship fighting title. The publisher has announced that Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition will be coming to North America as both a full retail release and as DLC for those who already own Super Street Fighter IV.

The Arcade Edition comes with four new playable characters. Yun and Yang will be familiar to fans of Street Fighter 3, while Evil Ryu and a new character called Oni (he’s basically a blue Akuma) are also joining the fray. The additions raise the total character count to an impressive 39, and Capcom is using the opportunity to update the character balancing for even more refined gameplay.

Capcom is also tweaking the SSFIV Replay Channel. For instance, the Replay Follower allows users to follow five favorite players, while the My Channel Advanced feature will allow you to send your replay data to as many as fifty other people. The Arcade Edition will also include an Elite Channel that will only feature replays from players with ratings of 3000PP or higher.

You can check out some screenshots and a couple of new gameplay trailers below. Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition will be available as DLC for $15 on June 7th before making it to retail on June 24th for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. The PC retail version will not be available until sometime in July.
