On New Year’s Day, reports have confirmed that the Avengers star Jeremy Renner has been hospitalized following a snow plow accident.
The Avengers hero Jeremy Renner, 51, has been hospitalized following a snow plow-related accident that took place on New Year’s Day (Sunday, January 1, 2023). While the actor’s representative did not describe the injuries’ seriousness, they stated that he was in “critical but stable condition.”
Renner’s representative told Variety, “We can confirm Jeremy is in critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while plowing snow earlier today. His family is with him, and he is receiving excellent care.”
Then, on Sunday morning, it was revealed that the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office near Reno, Nevada, was called to the Renner family residence in the Mt. Rose Highway area. Public information officer Kristin Vietti issued a statement on the accident, “Upon arrival, deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Mr. Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital,” she continued. “Mr. Renner was the only involved party.”
While there may not have been any third-party fouls or the actor taking on Marvel-level threats as a hero, the major accident investigation team at the sheriff’s office will be looking into the full details of how the accident transpired. According to local papers in Washoe County, Renner has had a home in the area for several years, and that part of Nevada has been known for its heavy snowfall—especially with its most recent New Year’s Eve storm that took place, based on the Reno Gazette Journal.
The 51-year-old had posted an Instagram photo back in 2015 with himself on a snowcat vehicle, which was used to traverse through heavy snow conditions. He has also posted other moments of him snow plowing using other snow vehicles. The acclaimed actor was not shy from some injuries before. In 2017, Renner talked about receiving a fractured right elbow and left wrist while filming the comedy film Tag alongside Jon Hamm, Ed Helms and Jake Johnson.
Of course, most fans know Jeremy Renner as playing his titular Marvel Avengers character Clint Barton/Hawkeye, since the 2011 film Thor. He has also been a part of the Mission Impossible and the Bourne film series, Arrival, American Hustle and 28 Weeks Later.
