Balatro Is Crashing On To Mobile Sept 26

LocalThunk’s popular Indie title, Balatro has been a big hit for the studio in 2024, and today they’ve announced that it will arrive on mobile at the end of September.

Last week, the Nintendo Direct Indie World presentation unleashed our latest round of Balatro news. The presentation revealed that the title would get big crossovers with The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, Vampire Survivors, Dave the Diver, and Among Us with the new Friends of Jimbo expansion. The expansion shadow dropped on the same day as the presentation, but today, LocalThunk has made the announcement that the roguelike deckbuilding title will be making its way to smartphone marketplaces. The announcement has been made over on X (formerly Twitter) and can be seen below.

Balatro creator LocalThunk has also expressed his condolences for the announcement that has been issued with a cautionary “Productivity be damned!” The developer has replied “I’m sorry” in response to the big announcement. Since launch, SteamChartz has reported Balatro has maintained an audience (albeit a slowly decreasing one) since launch back in February and has over 47,000 positive reviews on the title to date on the platform. Balatro has gone on to sell over 2 million units within the first six months of launch, and now with the incoming launch on mobile, LocalThunk has released Balatro on every major platform.

The other popular indie title, Vampire Survivors has followed a similar pattern. It has also released DLC to expand gameplay, then fully launched a mobile version in December 2022. Now LocalThunk’s popular Indie title follows suit. Starting on September 26, Balatro will be available through Apple Arcade, the App Store and Google Play and it can be pre-registered for on each mobile platform today, but it remains to be seen if the Friends of Jimbo extra content will be included on day one or not, fans will just have to check it out to see.
