Baldur's Gate 3 Delayed A Week for Final Checking
Anticipated RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 is being held off Early Access by seven more days, with developer Larian Studios making last minute triple-checks for stability and localization when it releases worldwide.

In a tweet, Larian stated its live development meant the game would never be “going gold” as players experience a build of Baldur’s Gate 3 that continuously updates with fixes. They also opted to sift out as many bugs and “a few things that are lacking polish” ahead of its new release date on October 6, 2020.

“We’re nearly there but we had a few unexpected delays,” Larian Studios wrote in their message, adding Baldur’s Gate 3 needed to tailor the experience further worldwide. “Because of the delays, our translations are also later than expected and we want to ensure localization for the announced Early Access languages is strong enough for our international fans to have a good time.”

Luckily, fans only need to stay hyped for a week longer before diving into the sequel to Baldur’s Gate 2. As the first Forgotten Realms game since 2013, players will be customizing a new character fighting the Mind Flayer. In true D&D fashion, they will also create their own choice-driven narratives as they explore new locations and meet thousands of NPCs in the game’s first act.

It also introduces some new mechanics through a re-tweaked combat system against new mind-controlled enemies and giant wildlife. The more players explore, the harder the experience gets with higher-level enemies in uncharted territory. NPCs can also join the player’s party, depending on how they interact with choices. They also feature unique abilities that can be used to a player’s advantage in battle, leaving much of the group to creativity and a lucky dice roll in the turn-based combat system.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now launching its first act on PC starting October 6, 2020 worldwide over Steam, Stadia and GOG. Players can pre-order the game ahead of time.
