Meet Patch 3

Baldur's Gate 3 Big Patch Incoming & Mac Support Planned Next Week

Larian Studios has officially announced the release date of the next major Baldur’s Gate 3 patch, and with Patch 3, the title will finally have Mac Support, which was initially planned for earlier this September.

Following the two major updates that saw many bug fixes and general performance smoothing, Larian Studios has announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 will receive a third major patch next week. The previous two major patches also delivered thousands of changes to the base title, with the first patch introducing a fix for Dwarven/Gnome/shorter adventurers to be able to smooch their companion of choice rather than the camera oddly panning over the scene. Larian Studios is committed to fine-tuning the experience delivered by Baldur’s Gate 3, and patch three is reportedly landing on September 21.

Senior Product Manager at Larian Studios Tom Butler said, “We’ll carry on patching for a while and then we’re all going to take a holiday, and then we’ll figure out what we do next,” with “But at the moment, we genuinely have discussions. We want to do more. We don’t know what yet” to IGN at the end of August, but patch three seems to be a start somewhere. While Larian Studios is also committed to eventually bringing cross-play and cross-platform play in the future, the company is also reportedly bringing the title to the Xbox family of consoles as well.

While Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to surge on the internet positively for fans, the title remains plagued by notable bugs in mainly the second and third acts of gameplay, as fans report. A posted Reddit thread lists all of the hindrances fans have faced playing the game on the PlayStation 5. One user, digitalpacman, made a laundry list of the bugs they’ve faced on the thread since beginning their journey which is from two days ago. Most complaints seem centred around NPC characters randomly not following the player when doing actions or embarking on tasks.

All in all, Baldur’s Gate 3 is improving thanks to constant patchwork from Larian Studios, and the third major patch will land next week.
