Larian Studios has announced the next big update for Baldur’s Gate 3, Patch 6, will be released next week and include a much-requested fan feature: improved kissing with romantic partners.
Romance has, of course, been one of the most popular aspects of Baldur’s Gate 3, with players falling for characters in droves. Even before the official launch, the game drew tons of attention for its infamous “bear sex” scene. With all that in mind, the player base will likely be overjoyed with these improvements.
The studio announced the patch through the official Baldur’s Gate 3 account on X, and noted it’s going to be a “hefty” update. The official patch notes will come later but we know the patch will include improved kissing, new camp idle animations, new Legendary Actions in Honour Mode, and a variety of different bug fixes.
If past patches are any indication, we can expect a wealth of different changes. For example, Patch 5 added an entirely new epilogue section to the end of the game, two brand new modes, dynamic resolution for PS5, a new fight in Ramazith’s Tower, and much more.
Despite being a single-player game that launched nearly a year ago, Baldur’s Gate 3 has remained one of the most-played games on Steam. At the time of writing it currently sits at number ten on the most-played list.
Of course, a big part of this is the unrelenting praise and acclaim the game has received. Baldur’s Gate 3 came out of the game with adoring reviews, garnering dozens of perfect scores and reaching a 96 on Metacritic as the highest-rated game of 2023. Baldur’s Gate 3 took home Game of the Year at The Game Awards and has since released on Xbox consoles. A physical edition of the game is planned for release in Q1 2024.
