Before the Summer Game Fest 2024 opening night, potential leaks have hit the internet early, including a possible Civilization VII early announcement and a surprise multiplatform release for LEGO Horizons.
Leaks tend to happen each year right before big showcases, and Summer Game Fest is no stranger to leaks. This year, 2K Games may have made a large blunder by posting the (currently unannounced) Civilization VII banner on their website early. The banner was first posted on Resetera. The post also mentions a link to add the title to a wish list and an additional link to a trailer (the link sent the user to a private video) reported by Insider Gaming.
The popular theory was that 2K Games would unveil the still-unannounced Borderlands 4 which has been reportedly in development. 2K Games acquired Gearbox in March and has claimed they would be revealing a big announcement via the Summer Games Fest X (formerly Twitter) account.
Civilization VI launched way back (for the first time) in 2016, and has been received by fans and critics incredibly well. With many add-ons launching since launch, it could very well be that 2K Games does announce the next Civilization title.
Another potential Summer Game Fest leak has hit the internet and comes from the reliable leak source Dealabs, who has provided many leaks including Epic Games Store weekly freebie announcements, and suggests Sony Interactive Entertainment is working on a LEGO Horizons Adventure game. This isn’t that far-fetched, considering LEGO and Horizon Forbidden West have teamed up to make the Tallneck set back in 2022.
