Starting today, 2K published games will be available for Nvidia Shield Geforce Now subscribers.
To kick off the partnership with 2K, users of Nvidia’s popular Geforce Now streaming service will be able to play Bioshock Remastered, with additional titles being released in the next couple of weeks. The full list of the 2K games that will be coming to the streaming service, include The aforementioned Bioshock Remaster, followed by the sequel Bioshock 2 Remastered, Borderlands, Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edtion, and finally, Spec Ops: The Line.
The collection of 2K First Person action titles join the ever growing list of over 100 titles available to Nvidia Geforce Now customers. Those unfamiliar with the service, Nvidia Geforce now is at its core, Nvidia’s take on Netflix, but for popular PC video games.
Nvidia isn’t the first company to introduce game streaming, that honor goes to the now defunct Onlive games streaming service, which launched in 2009, however due to bandwidth and latency issues on top of legal and a whole host of other problems, the service was ultimately discontinued in 2015, with most of their assets sold off to Sony Computer Entertainment.
Flash forward to 2017 and game streaming has become more of a norm, partly due to faster internet connections that allow less input lag. Companies such as Nvidia with their Geforce Now service and Sony’s PlayStation Now service have showed consumers that game streaming can be a viable option for players who want to play demanding games on any hardware that otherwise wouldn’t support them.
No release date for the games aside from Bioshock Remastered have been announced at this time.
