Crunchyroll confirmed Chainsaw Man—The Movie: Reze Arc is coming out on October 29th, with a two-part recap coming out in September.

It has been nearly three years since the first season aired, and the fans have been waiting for MAPPA. Crunchyroll confirmed Chainsaw Man—The Movie: Reze Arc is coming out on October 29th, with a two-part recap coming out in September. Chainsaw Man—The Compilation Part I and Part II will release in Japan on September 5th. Along with recapping key moments from the TV anime, newly animated sections titled Chainsaw Days will be added, which adapt omake extra end chapters.

This week, Crunchyroll stated the two-part Chainsaw Man Season 1 compilation will stream on the platform in September in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS (subtitles will only be available at launch). Alongside the announcement of the special, the accounts revealed that Chainsaw Man—The Movie: Reze Arc will be released in 61 IMAX theaters across Japan on September 19. A new IMAX exclusive poster was released to commemorate the reveal. This hinted that the international release should also have IMAX screenings too, across more than 80 countries, similar to Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba—The Movie: Infinity Castle’s upcoming international release on September 12th.

Ryu Nakayama directed the TV anime series at MAPPA, which ran from October to December 2022. Tatsuya Yoshihara, who previously directed the fourth and tenth episodes of the TV anime series and directed much of the Black Clover TV anime, directs the upcoming movie. Hiroshi Seko returns to write the script along with Kazutaka Sugiyama as Character Designer, all at MAPPA. Souta Yamazaki and Shun work as the Sub Character Designer, with Sota Shigetsugu as Action Animation Director, and Shoichi as the Main Animator. Riki Matsuura will design the devils alongside Look Back director Kiyotaka Oshiyama.

Chainsaw Man—The Movie: Reze Arc will premiere in Japan on September 19, and then release internationally starting September 24. Sony Pictures will release the film in the United States on October 29. So far, the premise of this movie follows Denji, a boy with a Devil’s heart, who is now part of Special Division 4’s Devil Hunters. After a date with Makima, the woman of his dreams, Denji takes shelter from the rain. There he meets Reze, a girl who works in a café. The movie serves as a continuation of the first season, so this is a must-watch film.

Kensuke Ushio is returning from the anime series to compose the film’s music. Kenshi Yonezu performed the film’s theme song “Iris Out” while the ending theme song is “Jane Doe” by Yonezu and Hikaru Utada. Yonezu is returning to the franchise after previously providing the opening theme song for the first season of the anime “Kick Back”.

“Denji is a teenage boy living with a Chainsaw Devil named Pochita. Due to the debt his father left behind, he has been living a rock-bottom life while repaying his debt by harvesting devil corpses with Pochita. One day, Denji is betrayed and killed. As his consciousness fades, he makes a contract with Pochita and gets revived as “Chainsaw Man”—a man with a devil’s heart.”
