CORSAIR has just bolstered its accessory catalogue. Today, the company known for delivering quality peripherals has acquired Trak Racer, a pillar in racing and flight accessories.
Let’s face it, simulation racing has grown exponentially in the past decade, so peripherals like what Trak Racer offers have become more lucrative. Today, it’s apparently grown lucrative enough for the brand to jump in with both feet and acquire Trak Racer for its known prowess in racing and flight sim peripherals. As a global designer and manufacturer of sim racing and flight simulation cockpits, seats, monitor stands, motion systems and accessories, Trak Racer joins the company’s portfolio of brands as a complement to Fanatec, the leading name in sim racing hardware.
Founded in 2008 by Matt Sten, Trak Racer has built a loyal following among sim racing and flight sim fans with products ranging from entry-level rigs to professional-grade cockpits, giving racers of all calibres a cockpit or a driver’s seat worthy of their experience. Sten said, “CORSAIR’s global distribution and retail infrastructure, paired with Fanatec’s engineering strength and product portfolio, will let us bring Trak Racer products to a much larger audience while staying true to the community that helped build this brand,” adding that joining the company gives Trak Racer the ability to reach more racing/flight simulation fans than ever before.
Matt Sten is also staying on board, joining CORSAIR as Chief Technology Officer for Sim Solutions. The acquisition gives CORSAIR its first real foothold in flight simulation. Trak Racer’s TR550 Flight Simulator provides an established starting point in the category, and the same engineering that goes into a great racing rig, including precise controls, a rock-solid frame, ergonomics, displays, motion and haptics, carries over directly to flight simulators.
