Coyote vs. Acme, a film Warner Bros. infamously tried to sweep under the rug in 2023, has released its first official trailer and is coming to theatres this Summer.

Before Warner Bros. was set to be purchased by Paramount (still ongoing), Warner Bros. Discovery made negative headlines in 2023 by sweeping several completed projects under the rug before release to cash in on tax write-offs. This happened with two films, one of which is Coyote vs. Acme, a live-action Looney Tunes film in the same vein as Space Jam or Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, where Looney Tunes themselves interact in hilarious ways with the real world. The other film (Batgirl) didn’t end up making it.

On the plus side, Ketchup Entertainment released the first film trailer for Coyote vs. Acme today, and it can be seen below. While the trailer can be seen, the actor who plays Acme’s legal counsel in the film may be harder to spot than usual (it’s John Cena).

Funnily enough, the film is rolling with the punches and has a tagline of “The Film Acme Didn’t Want You to See,” using its plight in production as a marketing tool. The trailer reveals that Coyote and Road Runner are not the only toons that will be included in the film; Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Foghorn Leghorn, and others will make appearances.

The film’s premise sees accident lawyer Kevin Avery (Will Forte) drop a Better Call Saul-esque injury commercial claiming that he can get compensation for Acme’s failed product designs (provided you can claim injury), and Wile E. Coyote is potentially their biggest customer (and biggest liability). Acme is represented by Buddy Crane (John Cena), and the trailer shows he’s willing to squeeze the bird (literally) to win his case for the Acme Corporation.

Coyote vs. Acme is heading straight to theatres on August 28, 2026.
