Voting for the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards is ending this week, anime of the year includes DAN DA DAN, Kaiju No. 8 and Solo Leveling.
In just over a month, the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards will crown the unanimous best anime of 2024. Voting already began late last week and remains open until April 14. The highly anticipated 9th annual live event takes place on May 25 in Tokyo, Japan. 2024 brought a huge arsenal of anime into the limelight, ones returning and ones making their debut—such as DAN DA DAN and Solo Leveling. Many shows are competing for Anime of the Year, but this year brings new categories: Best Isekai Anime and Best Background Art.
President and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, Hiroki Totoki, will deliver opening remarks at the Anime Awards live ceremony, which will be hosted by voice actress Sally Amaki and popular entertainer Jon Kabira. So far, the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards star-studded presenters include Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo, along with English professional boxer Ben Whittaker and American recording artist d4vd, among more.

- d4vd—American recording artist
- Rina Sawayama—Musician and actor
- Chloe Kim—American snowboarder
- Plastique Tiara—Top global drag star
- Paloma Mami—American-Chilean singer
- Gigguk—Pioneering YouTube content creator

Personally, I am torn between DAN DA DAN and Solo Leveling for anime of the year because one has outstanding animation versus the other being so hype. Kaiju No. 8 gets my vote for passing the vibe check and is just there for a good, wholesome time with some good action. Delicious in Dungeon, The Apothecary Diaries and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End fall into the same realm of bringing new storytelling elements to their respective genres.
