CD Projekt RED has confirmed what appears to be Cyberpunk 2077’s biggest update since Phantom Liberty: Update 2.5 launches this week.
Following the launch of a free update that overhauled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with its new Remastered edition, CD Projekt RED is turning its attention back to Cyberpunk 2077. This comes after game director Gabe Amatangelo previously suggested that the studio was finished releasing major updates for the title as it shifted its focus to other projects. However, CD Projekt RED has now confirmed that another major update is on the way, and it’s arriving sooner than expected. Scheduled for October 22, the free Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 will introduce new features and content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.
The social media post reads, “New Edgerunners, new chrome, new playstyle? Sounds like we need another REDstreams!” CD Projekt RED also confirmed that a new livestream will take place tomorrow, October 21, offering a closer look at the features coming in the update. Fans won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on the new content, either, as Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 is scheduled to launch on Thursday, October 22. Alongside content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the update will introduce cyberware customization and a new dual-wielding playstyle.
Considering the recent launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, which CGMagazine praised as an impressive update to a game that “remains one of the best-written games ever made,” CD Projekt RED may be looking to give Cyberpunk 2077 a similar boost. Alternatively, the developers may simply have come up with new ideas that were too good to leave behind, giving players another reason to return to Night City
Either way, the next update will be revealed in full tomorrow via livestream at 11:00 a.m. EST, and fans can watch it directly from the CD Projekt RED YouTube channel. The update itself will launch the very next day, on October 22, 2027, so fans will have a new excuse to jump back into Night City then.
