CD Projekt Red and TRIGGER have shared a new trailer for the second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, giving a deeper look at the eclectic cast of the show and the tone this season might be going for. It also confirms that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 will premiere exclusively on Netflix on October 20.
Set in the same world as CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077, the second season, just like the first, tells a completely standalone story set in Night City. This 10-episode season is described as such:
“Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 features a fresh cast of characters and follows their intertwining stories as they fight their own battles across Night City. The series tells a raw, human story of revenge and redemption
When the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?”
This season follows four main characters, who all tie into its overarching theme. Here are their official descriptions.
- Weak Kingsley – “Once known as ‘King,’ a veteran Edgerunner who now lives in the shadow of his former glory.”
- D – “A Snake Nation netrunner who hunts the killer that wiped out his clan.”
- Roman Carax – “A young cinephile in search of real stories in a city that abandoned cinema for braindances. Obsessed with documenting the truth and following the lives of other people.”
- Talia Yang – “She hails from the corpo towers… but her heart belongs to chrome and violence.”
Netflix has also announced the main cast, both in Japanese and English.
- Momoka Terasawa/Valeria Rodriguez as Roman Carax
- Akari Kitō/Kimoy Lee as Talia Yang
- Kōki Uchiyama/Nazeeh Tarsha as D
- Kentarō Tone/Clancy Brown as Weak Kingsley
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 is made in collaboration with CD Projekt Red and the award-winning anime studio TRIGGER, responsible for the likes of Kill la Kill, Promare, Delicious in Dungeon, and more. Masahiko Otsuka, the scriptwriter of the first season, is returning for the second, while Kai Ikarashi is making his directorial debut. Producer and writer of the first season, Bartosz Sztybor, is also returning. The opening theme song is The Cure’s “10:15 Saturday Night,” while the ending theme is Petite Miller’s “Watson.”
The first season of Edgerunners received rave reviews across the board from critics and fans alike, currently sitting at 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Needless to say, expectations are high.
