The Season of the Wish for 6 Months

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Delays Into June & The Witcher 3 Crossover

Bungie has detailed when Destiny 2 The Final Shape will be delayed, and aside from the expansion’s new release date of June 2024, there’s also a Witcher 3 crossover looming.

Since layoffs hit Bungie in late October, it was announced that the upcoming Destiny 2 content update with The Final Shape would be delayed, and yesterday, fans finally received an official launch date for The Final Shape. The Destiny 2 team blog post reads, “The Final Shape is the culmination of the first ten years of Destiny storytelling and, for Guardians everywhere, countless hours spent together. We want to honour that journey, so we’re taking the time we need to deliver an even bigger and bolder vision, one that we hope will be remembered and treasured for years to come” before announcing the June 4, 2024 launch date.

Now with this delay, this means that the next season, Season of the Wish, will extend from November all the way until June, although the narrative will run until the initially planned February end date. Bungie is also moving up the Destiny 2 Guardian Games to March, and it will feature a more “refreshed focus on class vs. class competition.”

From April until June, a two-month content update available to everyone called Destiny 2: Into the Light will occur, leading into The Final Shape. To kick off the Season of the Wish, there is also crossover gear for Guardians featuring The Witcher 3.

Starting today, Guardians can get their hands on Witcher-inspired armour sets for each class — the White Wolf for Hunters, the Hexer for Warlocks, and Kaer Morhen for Titans. The new armour sets can be found in the item store, and there are also other items, such as a sparrow inspired by Geralt of Rivia‘s trusty steed Roach. There’s also a new “Tub Time” emote that allows Guardians to lower themselves into a holographic bathtub, as he does in The Witcher 3.

The Final Shape will launch on the new date of June 4, 2024, and fans can peruse the new Witcher-inspired items in the shop now.
