The company behind some of the best civilian drones, DJI has announced the upcoming release of their latest action camera, the DJI Osmo Action 3.
The latest release in their Osmo Action series, the third incarnation sports a lot of improvements from its predecessor, including a number of improvements specified for content creation. Chief among those are native support for vertical shooting, allowing you to utilize your entire field of view for short form content platforms, like TikTok or YouTube Shorts.
The Action 3 can shoot in up to 4K/120fps and sports a 155° field of view. It is capable of shooting slow-motion or time-lapse footage and is waterproof up to 16 metres. It also has three stabilization options for your video, including Rocksteady 3.0, to cut down on any shaking, HorizonSteady, which keeps your image horizontally level despite any bumps or tilts and HorizonBalancing, which will correct tilt up to 45°.
The camera provides dual touch screens, allowing for the user to change settings when the camera is on a subject or when you are the subject, using the camera for vlogging purposes. Its three-microphone system reduces wind and noise for more clear sound and the camera is also capable of Wi-Fi Live streaming up to 1080/30fps.
The Camera’s Voice recognition allows you to control a bevy of options on the camera. Its InvisiStick setting will digitally remove selfie sticks from the video when skiing, and it can take a bit of abuse too. With Gorilla Glass over its touch screens and lens, the Action 3 is drop resistant to 1.5 metres. DJI also promises the ability to continuously record at 4K/60fps until the battery dies without the camera overheating on you.
Its new 1770mAh battery gives you up to four hours of recording time and can hold its charge in temperatures as cold as -20°C. The Osmo Action 3’s battery can charge to 80% in as little as 18 minutes.
Osmo Action 3 is available today from store.dji.com and other retailers in several packages. The Standard Combo retails for $329 and includes Osmo Action 3, one Extreme Battery, the Horizontal-Vertical Protective Frame, the Quick-Release Adapter Mount, and the Osmo Flat Adhesive Base. The Adventure Combo retails for $439 and includes the Osmo Action 3, three Osmo Extreme Batteries, the battery case that holds all three batteries and a pair of Micro SD cards.
