Dying Light 2: Stay Human Delayed to February 4th 2022

Dying Light developer, Techland has announced that Dying Light 2: Stay Human has been delayed to February 4th, 2022.

The developer announced the delay on Dying Light‘s Twitter account, revealing the game would miss its previously slated December 7th date and 2021 overall. Techland revealed in a statement while the game is complete, they need a little bit more time to polish the game.

“The team is steadily progressing with the production and the game is nearing the finish line. The game is complete and we are currently playtesting it. It is by far the biggest and the most ambitious project we’ve ever done. Unfortunately, we’ve realized for us to bring the game to the level we envision, we need more time to polish and optimize it,” Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka said in a statement on Dying Light 2: Stay Human‘s delay.

This isn’t the first time Dying Light 2 has been delayed. It was initially set to release in spring 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic was assumedly ever a thought in the developer’s mind. It was later pushed to 2021, and back in May an official release date was confirmed for December.

The upcoming sequel is set 20 years after the 2015 original game, putting players in the shoes of Aiden Caldwell. Dying Light 2 ‘s main protagonist is a member of an outcast group known as the Pilgrims, which have been compared to ronin. His goal is to find his sister, Mia, who is the key to finding out the truth of his past.

Techland also added that next month press and content creators will be diving into the game in an upcoming series of preview events, so we’ll hopefully learn more about the game sometime soon. While the delay is a little disheartening, it’s good to know that the developer are looking to make the game the best it can be and how they envisioned it. When it releases it will be a little over seven years since the original Dying Light game was released, back in January 2015.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human will officially launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on February 4th, 2022.
