Returning to the zombie-infested world, Techland announces Dying Light: The Beast Restored Land, featuring a new game mode, improvements, and more.
From the creators of Dying Light and the Dead Island series, Techland launches Dying Light: The Beast Restored Land across all platforms, with the option for existing players to upgrade to the definitive edition for free. Improving upon the September 2025 release, the definitive edition features new difficulty modes, quality of life updates, and many more as players return to Castor Woods.

Following the event of Kyle Crane escaping from Baron’s grasp and his painful experiments, Dying Light: The Beast follows Kyle as he wanders the zombie-infested world with the DNA trait of both human and zombie, struggling to contain his inner beast as he seeks to get his revenge on Baron. As players embark on a daring journey, they will take on various zombies with their beast-like powers, scavenge during the day and hide during the night from zombies, jump across rooftops, drive through hordes of zombies in an off-road vehicle, and much more.
The biggest features players can anticipate from Dying Light: The Beast Restored Land are the Restored Land difficulty mode, where all actions result in permanent consequences. Taking survival to the next level, zombies no longer respawn after being killed, looted items stop respawning, containers provide fewer supplies, and shops will sell fewer stock of items at a higher price. Alongside fewer supplies and items no longer respawning, activities including Convoys, Dark Zones, and Hives can only be completed once. Lastly, players will need to manage their hunger and flashlight-depleted batteries much more frequently.
For the daring players, they can enable the One Life option to increase the difficulty of the Restored Land, as they will be required to complete the experience with only a single life. However, their save files will be deleted if the player dies during their run, needing to start over from the beginning. Once players complete the Restored Land difficulty mode with One Life enabled, they will receive special rewards for their dedication.
Alongside the new difficulty modes, there will be much content and features arriving in Dying Light: The Beast Restored Land. The content and features that have been announced so far are:
- Roadkill Rallies – A competitive vehicular race where players smash through zombies while optimizing their routes across the open world map.
- Leaderboard – A Friend and Global Leaderboards for players to track their performance in both Restored Land and Roadkill Rallies. However, the Global Leaderboard will be exclusive to consoles.
- 33 new quest encounters – New events along the quest paths and expanded faction interactions through randomized encounters.
- Five new finishers – Banshee, Charger, Demolisher, Goon, and Volatile.
- Seven new trophies – One gold trophy, one silver trophy, and five bronze trophies.
- Co-op additions – Ping system to mark enemies and items, online players’ history to invite past players as friends, and better loot for co-op.
- Zombie fights: Receive greater rewards from fighting high-risk zombies, improved zombie spawn, a more diverse group of low-level zombies, and improved Special Infected fights.
- Additional fixes and improvements – Dodge time improved, five new hidden stashes, damage window enhancements, improved sound of killing an enemy, and many more.
